The greatest calamity of all is the inability to bear calamities
Remember that crises and hardships affect everyone equally, regardless of rank or status. There is no heart that beats without feeling hardship and sadness.
When you think of crises, no matter how difficult they are, as an event that has a beginning, middle and end, and that they are the beginning of an inevitable change.
And you realize that they are just signs that life is pushing you out of your comfort zone. "It is a necessary evil."
"Crises are the cornerstone of changing character."
Why does God afflict people with crises and hardships
God, who rules with mercy and wisdom, would not have allowed so much pain to be endured if He did not intend to transform those afflicted by crises to a better area, just as iron is formed when exposed to a high temperature that causes it to transform and change its entire composition to form the best forms.
Crisis allows growth and transformation. In real life, the caterpillar is almost completely destroyed and its entire body inside the cocoon turns into jelly and then miraculously returns to a beautiful butterfly.
What is even more amazing is that scientists have discovered that the things that the caterpillar learns are remembered when it turns into a butterfly and this knowledge somehow goes through the process of complete decomposition and reassembly
The same thing happens to people in crises, although they may sometimes break us, but they are a threshold through which they carry the lessons learned and the value of things. But the essential part of you not only grows, but is able to thrive in the face of challenges.
"Crisis is the way growth happens, although it is a very difficult, painful and unpleasant way"
Failure to achieve goals
It has never happened to any human being since God created humans and it will never happen to get everything according to his desires.
If you do not take risks and face the troubles of life. A person may fail to achieve his goals and many incidents in life may lead to wasting most of his efforts in the paths of success.
Surrendering to disappointments is an invitation to defeat, while courageously searching for ways to resist defeat and get out of the temporary ordeal through ambition, striving hard and working without despair will bear fruit.
I remember Robert Frost’s poem The Untold Path (1916)
Two paths diverged in the young woods
And I could not walk both
Alone I stood there thinking long
And wished for one of them as my eyes could reach
Where to walk in the young woods
And I finally took the other path
I saw that it was the best path
For the grass was fresh and beautiful
No foot had trodden on this path
So then I did not think much
To take the old crowded path
For both paths were before me
I had to make a decision
A long path with many thorns
And another very easy one I took the one I was on alone
No retreat or surrender
Let the years pass and I tell the story
My heart that always lived
Bridges and how the course of
My life changed when I took the untold path
The Story of Job
No one has been exposed to more calamities than Job. God gave him a prestigious social position, everyone’s love for him, and wealth. He had agricultural lands all over the country and a wide trade.
He was also the assistant judge of the country and one of the most trusted figures by everyone. He married the girl he loved sInce childhood and had 10 children from her.
He was strong and healthy. Happiness and laughter filled his life. Suddenly, bandits attacked his farms, killed all the workers, and looted and stole everything that was there. Job was committed to taking care of all the families of the deceased workers.
He also had to compensate all the merchants for the goods that he could not commit to as a result of the theft.
All of this led to the loss of all his money and trade. At the same time, the house collapsed where all his children gathered and died. His wife enters a phase of denial, so he takes care of her.
While he is in the midst of all these difficult and severe crises, his entire body is afflicted with an unknown disease: redness, then foul-smelling boils, and then worms come out of them.
There is no person who has been exposed to all these calamities at the same time and was able to continue, but Job accepted all of that with a content heart and a steadfast, aware mind, convinced of God’s wisdom. “We are all relieved by God’s gifts. Should we not be patient with the affliction?”
When you are content and accept the affliction with a content heart, you will be surprised by God’s gifts. Job regained his health after he was among the dead. The worms that came out of him were the reason for his recovery.
He was able to recover his business intelligently by thanking his Lord for his recovery, as he prayed for all the merchants he worked with and everyone who mocked him, so the surprise was that he gave everyone who attended a gift. The gifts were enough to recover his business. He taught his wife the meaning of contentment, acceptance and trust in God’s judgment, so she had 10 children from him when she was old.
It was God’s reward for Job for his patience. He could not remember the names of his grandchildren after the fiftieth grandchild.
How to overcome and deal with calamities
It is difficult for many of us to avoid the pain and difficulties that accompany crises. Many of us are overcome by despair, frustration and disappointment, and surrender and lose the desire to live. Not all of us can deal with the affliction with the heart of Job.
Therefore, the following measures must be taken
Be present-minded
Be present-minded, accept difficulties and manage the crisis as much as you can. The most useful work that men and women do is in the midst of calamities and overcoming their personal sorrows, as they are able to deal with a steadfast heart and stand upright under the heaviest burdens.
Accepting reality
Many of us refuse to accept the truth of what is happening by denying that you are going through a crisis. This will only prolong the pain, and remaining in a state of denial will prevent you from adapting to your new circumstances and prevent you from searching for solutions or taking measures that will help you speed up the healing process.
Be confident
Be confident that you will eventually find a solution, even if the solution is not very clear. Always tell yourself that the affliction, no matter how great, is just a setback and the beginning of a new life.
Focus on the things that are within your control
Focus on the actions you can take
For example: If you are unemployed, you cannot control whether the perfect job will appear or whether the employer will give you an interview
But you can control how much time and effort you put into looking for work or honing your skills.
If a loved one is facing a terminal illness, you cannot cure them
Accept change by looking at your past
Perhaps you went through a painful breakup in the past and were eventually able to move on.
Or you lost a job and ended up getting a better job.
The mere fact of your past successes can help you see beyond the current crisis.
Accept your feelings
Trying to prevent your painful feelings from coming to light and putting on a brave face will only increase stress, delay acceptance of your current situation, and prevent you from moving forward.
By allowing yourself to feel your feelings, you will find that even the most intense and disturbing feelings will pass and you will be able to find a way forward.
Allow yourself to face your grief, acknowledge your losses and grieve for them. In this way, you will be able to recover and move forward.
Break down the problem
Deal with your problems step by step. If they are too big to deal with all at once, try to break them down into smaller, more manageable steps.
Always remember that great misfortunes gather around great men, just as storms gather around great mountains.
Do something new
You must learn something new, no matter how important it is, it should be new and different. This will direct your thinking towards that thing and gradually move your thinking away from the state of sadness and depression and help your mind to return to life. Over time, your mind will begin to think creatively and adapt to the new situation.
For example, learn a skill, travel to another place, learn a new language, get a pet.
Remember that the purest souls sometimes encounter the most severe disappointments, some of which are the reason for great ambition.
